Brainstorming & Ideas
Capture your flashes of inspiration and seamlessly transition them into your manuscript.
The Idea Inbox
The Idea system is your digital notebook. Unlike Elements (which are structured database items) or Scenes (which belong to a specific manuscript), Ideas are freeform and flexible.
When inspiration strikes for a new character, plot twist, or worldbuilding concept, add it to your Inbox. You can categorize it by type (Character, Scene, Plot, Dialogue, etc.) and assign it a priority level.
Idea Hierarchies
Some ideas are too big for one note. You can nest Ideas underneath a "Parent Idea" to create hierarchies—perfect for brainstorming a complex magic system or a multi-part character arc before you formalize it.
Converting Ideas
The true power of the Idea system is its integration with the rest of your Book. Once an Idea has been fleshed out, you don't have to manually copy and paste it into a structured form.
The Conversion Pipeline
Clicking the Tools menu on any Idea allows you to instantly convert it:
- Convert to Element: Transforms your idea note directly into a Character, Location, Item, or Lore element. The text you wrote becomes the Element's core content.
- Convert to Scene: Transforms your idea into a brand new Scene in your book, placing your brainstorming text directly into the Scene Summary so you can begin writing the draft version.
Once converted, the original Idea is automatically marked as "Implemented" so your inbox stays clean and focused on unaddressed concepts!
