Sharing and Commenting
Collaborate with beta readers, editors, and co-authors securely.
The Commenting System
misenous includes a robust permission system for allowing external readers to review your book without giving them edit access to your manuscript.
Instead of sending unsecure Word documents back and forth to beta readers, you can invite them directly to the misenous platform as a Commentor. This allows them to read your work in a distraction-free environment and leave notes directly attached to specific paragraphs.
Inviting Commentors
To invite someone to read your book:
- Navigate to the main Dashboard or the Books index page.
- Locate the book you want to share, and click the Share Book button.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
- They will receive an email invitation granting them secure, read-only access strictly limited to that specific book.
The Reader View
When a Commentor logs in, they do not see the complex structure of Drafts, Scenes, Elements, or Tracking metrics that you see. They are presented with a clean, distraction-free "Reader View" of the compiled manuscript, functioning much like an e-reader.
They can highlight text, leave feedback, and start discussion threads. As the author, you will be notified of their comments and can reply directly to them within the interface!
